Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has instructed all departments to complete preparations for the upcoming Shravani Mela 2025 in Deoghar and Basukinath by July 11. The mela is expected to attract approximately 50 lakh devotees this year. The event is recognized as an important cultural and religious occasion linked to the state’s identity and prestige.
During a high-level review meeting held at the Shri Lokkrishna Institute of Public Administration in Ranchi, CM Soren emphasized the need for strict coordination among departments. He directed officials to ensure the availability and monitoring of essential services, including security, sanitation, electricity, water supply, health facilities, and traffic management.
The Chief Minister suggested the temporary use of vacant land along the mela route to establish rest houses, toilets, and bathing facilities. He instructed that these arrangements be made with the consent of the landowners and that the land be restored after the mela concludes. Specific instructions were given to ensure separate accommodation and food arrangements for women and children to address their safety and convenience.
To manage the large crowds expected during the event, CM Soren directed that sufficient security personnel be deployed along the mela route. Vehicle speed limits are to be strictly enforced. The mela area will be monitored using high-definition cameras and automated vehicle number plate reading systems to prevent rule violations and enhance security.
For quick resolution of grievances, a QR code-based complaint redressal system will be introduced. Devotees will be able to register complaints immediately using this system, and authorities will address these issues promptly. This system aims to improve the overall experience of the attendees.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Minister Sudivya Kumar, MLAs Suresh Paswan and Devendra Kunwar, Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary Mast Ram Meena, Police Director General Anurag Gupta, and members of the Baba Baidyanath Dham-Basukinath Pilgrimage Area Development Authority. The preparations are designed to ensure the mela’s smooth operation and uphold Jharkhand’s cultural significance.
